Anne Carter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Zoe Pecuch was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Katie Genovese, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
Holy Redeemer hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Greater Nanticoke Area came up short against Hanover Area on Monday and fell 9-6.
Kileigh Casey and Rilee Ruminski did some serious damage despite the final result: Casey went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run, while Ruminski went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That hit marked the first that Ruminski has got this season.
Holy Redeemer's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Greater Nanticoke Area, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.
Greater Nanticoke Area's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Holy Redeemer has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Greater Nanticoke Area, though, as they've been averaging 10.5 hits. Given Holy Redeemer's sizable advantage in that area, the Trojans will need to find a way to close that gap.
