After 12 games on the road, Yoakum is heading back home. They will take on the Rice Consolidated Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Yoakum beat New Braunfels 45-39.
Yoakum can attribute much of their success to Jayana Phillips, who scored 14 points, and Olivia Fojt, who scored 11 points along with 6 steals.
Meanwhile, Rice Consolidated had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Brazos, posting a 39-9 win at home. The win was just what Rice Consolidated needed coming off of a 43-19 defeat in their prior game.
San Antonio Christian's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Yoakum's defeat dropped theirs to 7-6.
Everything came up roses for Yoakum against Rice Consolidated when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 62-22 win. Will Yoakum repeat their success, or does Rice Consolidated have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
