The Montgomery Tigers typically have all the answers at home, but on Tuesday the Northwood Gators proved too difficult a challenge. They snuck past the Tigers with a 44-40 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Northwood.
Montgomery's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was A Manson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Manson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Z Gates was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Northwood has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. As for Montgomery, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-7.
Northwood won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Ruston at 5:30 p.m. on January 10th. Ruston presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Northwood in Louisiana (Ruston is ranked 30th, while Northwood is ranked 90th). As for Montgomery, they will head out on the road to face off against LaSalle at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. LaSalle is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
