Poplar Bluff has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Sikeston Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Poplar Bluff will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Bulldogs are ranked fifth).
Last Tuesday, Poplar Bluff lost to the Eagles at home by a decisive 72-53 margin. Poplar Bluff has not had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Meanwhile, Sikeston put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Dexter 94-63 on the road. Sikeston has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 matchups by 22 points or more this season.
Poplar Bluff's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Sikeston, their victory bumped their record up to 19-0.
Poplar Bluff was dealt a bruising 86-57 defeat at the hands of the Bulldogs in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Poplar Bluff was down 51-25.
