After two games on the road, Columbia Falls is heading back home. They will take on The Whitefish Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Columbia Falls put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They breezed by Ronan on the road to the tune of 53-0. Given Columbia Falls' advantage in MaxPreps' Montana football rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Ronan is ranked 42nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cody Schweikert continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 201 yards and four touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Banyan Johnston was another key contributor, rushing for 95 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Meanwhile, Whitefish took their contest at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 50-14 victory over Browning.
Carson Gulick had an outrageously good game as he threw for 302 yards and five touchdowns while completing 82.6% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Dane Hunt, who picked up 76 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Columbia Falls' victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.0 points per game. As for Whitefish, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Columbia Falls has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 162.4 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Whitefish, though, as they've been averaging only 46.3 per game. How will Whitefish fare against such a dominant running game?
Columbia Falls came up short against Whitefish when the teams last played back in September, falling 20-14. Will Columbia Falls have more luck at home instead of on the road?
