The Foard Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to North Iredell. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Foard saw an underclassman step up: Carson Bess scored 30 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bess has scored all season. Another player making a difference was David Hartsoe, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Foard were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. This was only their 11th loss (out of 15 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Foard has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for North Iredell, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Foard will take on West Iredell at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Iredell is on a six-game streak of home losses, Foard a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. North Iredell's road trip will continue as they head out to face St. Stephens at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. St. Stephens has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 432 points over their last six matches.
