Basketball Recap: Homestead Piles Up the Points Against Central

Homestead won the last time they faced Central and things went their way on Friday too. The Homestead Broncos blew past the Central Rockets 45-5. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while the Rockets are ranked 541st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Homestead's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caitylyn Gibson led the charge by putting up 14 points along with seven boards and three steals. Gibson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 22 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alissa Brown, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 13 points and three steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Homestead and bumps their season record up to 6-2. As for Central, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Homestead will welcome Palmetto at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Homestead is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season. As for Central, they will venture away from home to face off against Miami Beach at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Central is facing Miami Beach at the right time seeing as Miami Beach is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
