It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Estacado Matadors had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Bowie at home to the tune of 45-3. Considering Estacado has won eight contests by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Estacado was led to victory by James Bozeman and Cedric Ross. Bozeman rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, while Ross rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown. Ross' longest rush was for an incredible 83 yards. Luis Gomez made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
The victory was the third in a row for Estacado, bringing their record for this year to 9-2. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 41.67 points. As for Bowie, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-4.
Estacado will head out on the road to face off against Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Canyon is on a five-game streak of home wins, Estacado a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Bowie does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
