Savannah Country Day (Savannah, Ga.) grabbed the lead when 
Heys McMath thew a touchdown to 
Ben Johnson with 5:00 left in the fourth quarter and held on to defeat 
Wheeler County (Alamo, Ga.) 28-21 on Saturday. The score was the final lead change in a back-and-forth contest that featured three lead swaps.
The score was knotted at 14 heading into the half. The Hornets took the lead for good on a McMath touchdown pass to Johnson in the fourth quarter.
Savannah Country Day's most effective player was Johnson. The junior quarterback caught two touchdowns. He has now scored seven touchdowns on the season.
SCD got revenge for last year's 21-7 loss to the Bulldogs with the victory. This series has historically been close, with the Savannah school holding a 1-2 record over the past four games between the two teams.
The victory was a step in the right direction for the Hornets, which was coming off a 51-33 defeat at the hands of Savannah Christian in its previous game.
