The Etiwanda Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rancho Verde Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
With a playoff game on the line, Etiwanda rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 89-53 win over the Crusaders. Etiwanda has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 22 points or more this season.
Meanwhile, Rancho Verde didn't have too much trouble with Walnut at home on Wednesday as they won 66-48. Given Rancho Verde's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Walnut is ranked 286th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Etiwanda pushed their record up to 24-5 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.7 points. As for Rancho Verde, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 25-4 record this season.
Etiwanda came out on top in a nail-biter against Rancho Verde when the teams last played back in January of 2023, sneaking past 58-56. Does Etiwanda have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rancho Verde turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
