Basketball Recap: Joseph Bruce Key Part of a Team Effort in Pride Win

Pine Lake Prep won the last time they faced Community School of Davidson and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Pine Lake Prep Pride snuck past the Community School of Davidson Spartans with a 66-61 win. Given the Pride's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Spartans are ranked 233rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pine Lake Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joseph Bruce led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. Bruce has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 18 times he's played. Jamie Lawson was another key player, putting up 19 points and seven rebounds.

Pine Lake Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Community School of Davidson only posted nine assists.

When it comes to explaining why Community School of Davidson lost, don't look at Dermot Lowry. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 15 en route to 25 points and eight boards. That's the most rebounds Lowry has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Austin Moran, who posted 13 points and six boards.

Pine Lake Prep's record now sits at 13-4. As for Community School of Davidson, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-9.

Pine Lake Prep will head out on the road to face off against Christ the King at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Community School of Davidson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mountain Island Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Community School of Davidson is facing Mountain Island Charter at the right time seeing as Mountain Island Charter is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
