The Denmark-Olar Vikings stacked a 15th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Williston-Elko at home to the tune of 78-19. The win was familiar territory for Denmark-Olar who now have eight in a row.
Leading Denmark-Olar to victory were Amuria Wright and Aveion Walker. Wright scored 16 points along with six steals, while Walker dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. Walker is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ry'Naisha Barnes, who scored six points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Denmark-Olar's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.5 points per game. As for Williston-Elko, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Denmark-Olar will face off against the Fighting Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Blackville-Hilda will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Vikings are ranked 56th). As for Williston-Elko, they will head out on the road to challenge the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Hunter-Kinard-Tyler focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Friday.
