The Stockbridge Panthers have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Ovid-Elsie Marauders at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th. Stockbridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 177th, while the Marauders are ranked 35th).
Last Monday, Stockbridge didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Eagles, but they still walked away with a 42-38 win. The win was just what Stockbridge needed coming off of a 61-39 defeat in their prior matchup.
Gracee Robidou continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points along with three steals. Melina Sayre was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Ovid-Elsie's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 44-34 to Williamston. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Ovid-Elsie has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Braeden Tokar, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Ava Bates, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Stockbridge is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Ovid-Elsie, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-2.
Tuesday's contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Stockbridge have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.5 rebounds per game.
