The Atlantic Sharks were the 54-27 winner over the Umatilla Bulldogs when they last played one another back in December of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. Atlantic lost to Umatilla on the road by a decisive 53-39 margin on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Atlantic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 417th, while Umatilla is ranked 144th).
Herva Brutus continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Umatilla, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. Brutus is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emalee Duncan, who scored seven points along with eight steals and three blocks.
Atlantic has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Umatilla, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.
Atlantic will be playing at home against Halifax Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Umatilla, they will head out on the road to face off against Tavares at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
