Basketball Recap: Hamilton Beats Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary for Their Third Straight Victory

Hamilton waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took down the Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary Cardinals 63-47.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hamilton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Michael Gooden, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. Gooden is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Vernell Thompson was another key player, putting up 15 points and five rebounds.

Hamilton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary still got an impressive performance from Jose Padilla, who posted 17 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Dylan Rosas, who had 11 points.

Hamilton has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.4 points per game.
