The Timnath Cubs fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Platte Valley Broncos on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 49-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Broncos. Timnath found out winning isn't easy when you make six fewer threes than your opponent.
Despite the defeat, Timnath saw an underclassman step up: Max Roselle dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Roselle has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Jacobson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Braylon Edstrom continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Platte Valley, scoring 23 points along with five steals. Edstrom has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Talyn Short, who scored 15 points along with five assists and two steals.
Timnath's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Platte Valley, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Timnath will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Frontier Academy at 7:15 p.m. One thing working in Frontier Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups. As for Platte Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Strasburg at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Strasburg will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
