Given Mercersburg Academy's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked second in Pennsylvania, while Life Center Academy is ranked 77th in New Jersey), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mercersburg Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dominic Schmidt, who scored 17 points along with 5 assists. Another player making a difference was Josiah Wright, who scored 11 points along with 3 steals.
Despite the loss, Life Center Academy still got an impressive performance from Elijah Brown, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 10 rebounds. The matchup was Brown's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Al-Tariq Reevey was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Life Center Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mercersburg Academy only racked up 11.
Mercersburg Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Life Center Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Mercersburg Academy will be staying on the road on Sunday to face off against Peddie. As for Life Center Academy, they will square off against Phelps at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday. Phelps has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 672 points over their last seven contests.
