The Maclay Marauders and the St. John Paul II Panthers squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Maclay Marauders had to settle for second. They fell to the Panthers 42-37. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (35), Maclay still had to take the loss.
Maclay's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nash Beshears, who rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 87 receiving yards. Henry Richardson also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Maclay now has a losing record at 5-6. As for St. John Paul II, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6.
Maclay does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. John Paul II will head out on the road to face off against North Florida Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Jp Pickles and Tremaine Hughes Jr..
