South Oak Cliff's rock-solid defense showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. They breezed past the Hillcrest Panthers to the tune of 55-0. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won three games by 44 points or more so far this season.

Jayden Williams had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 65 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also throwing for 160 yards and two TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes. Mikail Trotter was another key player, rushing for 63 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: South Oak Cliff was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 249 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in four consecutive contests.

Another reason for the win was South Oak Cliff's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Tramell Minter was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making four total tackles (3.0 for loss) in addition to snagging an interception.

South Oak Cliff pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.6 points on average over those games. As for Hillcrest, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3.

South Oak Cliff and Hillcrest will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Bears see the field they'll take on Wilson at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Hillcrest, their break will end when they face Seagoville at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th.
