The Piscataway Chiefs proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 33) but on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-42 win over Metuchen. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Piscataway.
Metuchen's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jason Woods, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Matt Smith was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Piscataway's win bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Metuchen, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Piscataway will take on the Soaring Eagles at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Metuchen, they will head out on the road to face off against the Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. J.P. Stevens is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
