The DeSoto Eagles put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Cedar Hill as DeSoto made off with a 35-13 victory. Given DeSoto's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked first, while Cedar Hill is ranked 49th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Marvin Duffey was his usual excellent self, rushing for 174 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.2 yards per carry. Duffey is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played. DeSoto also got help from Antonio Pride who showed off his sure hands for 185 receiving yards.
When it comes to explaining why Cedar Hill lost, one person who can't be blamed is Anthony Edwards. Despite the final result, he threw for 191 yards and a touchdown.
DeSoto's win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. As for Cedar Hill, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
DeSoto will be playing at home against Duncanville at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Duncanville is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Cedar Hill, they will head out on the road to face off against Mansfield Legacy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
