Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Lennox Academy's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Lennox Academy won the last time they faced Animo Leadership and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Panthers put the hurt on the Aztec Eagles with a sharp 18-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ziurell Ruiz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Valerie Lozano-Prado was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Ariana Olmos was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Lennox Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Lennox Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Animo Leadership, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lennox Academy will host Brentwood School at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Animo Leadership, they will welcome Compton Early College at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Aztec Eagles are facing the Rising Phoenix at the right time seeing as the Rising Phoenix are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
