Overbrook is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Math Civics & Sciences is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Overbrook Panthers will take on the Math Civics & Sciences Mighty Elephants at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Saturday, Overbrook didn't have too much trouble with Mastery Charter North - Pickett on the road as they won 76-61. Given Overbrook's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while Mastery Charter North - Pickett is ranked 502nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Overbrook to victory, but perhaps none more so than Omar Davis, who scored 18 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Davis is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shafir Hall, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Math Civics & Sciences posted their biggest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Mastery Charter North - Pickett with a sharp 75-54 win.
Math Civics & Sciences can attribute much of their success to Aiden Brown, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and six assists, and Milak Myatt, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Sair Alsbrooks was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Overbrook's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Math Civics & Sciences, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Overbrook hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 58.1 points per game. However, it's not like Math Civics & Sciences struggles in that department as they've been averaging 60.8 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Overbrook ended up a good deal behind Math Civics & Sciences in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, losing 79-60. Will Overbrook have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
