Morristown-Hamblen West has gone 8-2 against Morristown-Hamblen East recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. It'll be Eastside v. Mitchell wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bryson Shepard, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Another was Jacob Pompeo, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
Morristown-Hamblen East never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Cherokee on Friday. They put the hurt on the Chiefs with a sharp 10-4 victory. That six run margin sets a new team best for the Hurricanes this season.
Like Morristown-Hamblen West, Morristown-Hamblen East also got a great game from a two-way player: Parker Setsor. On the mound, he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Setsor was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.
Morristown-Hamblen East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Morristown-Hamblen East's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-11-1. As for Morristown-Hamblen West, their record now sits at 10-3.
