The Biddeford Tigers will challenge the Kennebunk Rams on Thursday. Biddeford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Biddeford will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs last Monday, then bounced right back against Noble last Tuesday. The Tigers blew past the Knights 14-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Tigers have posted against the Knights since June 2, 2015.
Biddeford got a massive performance out of Travis Edgerton, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Marcus Soucy, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Biddeford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Noble only posted an OBP of .353.
Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Kennebunk had no trouble coming through when it counted. They never let Falmouth get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by just one run.
Not much got past Isaac Jensen, who gave up just five hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Falmouth off the board. Jensen is becoming a predictor of Kennebunk's success: when he posts at least ten strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 5-11 when he doesn't).
On the hitting side, Kennebunk's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brady Stone, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Biddeford has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That lines up perfectly with their 12-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Kennebunk, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-12.
Biddeford took their victory against Kennebunk in their previous matchup back in May by a conclusive 13-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
