Perry County Central will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Mercer County extended their winning streak to nine on Monday. Everything went the Titans' way against Rockcastle County as they made off with a 13-2 victory. That 11-run margin sets a new team best for the Titans this season.
The team relied heavily on Mia Floro, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Lilly Hart also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Mercer County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rockcastle County only posted an OBP of .143.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Perry County Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Barbourville a 15-0 shutout on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Commodores considering their one-run performance the game before.
M Fugate was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of M Shepherd, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Perry County Central now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Mercer County, their record is now 9-2.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mercer County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Perry County Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .376. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mercer County came out on top in a nail-biter against Perry County Central in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 4-3. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Commodores have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
