Jefferson Davis Academy had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 6-8 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors 8-6. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-0 back in March.

Rynn Fickling and Abby Deering made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Fickling struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Deering pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those seven strikeouts gave Fickling a new career-high. At the plate, Fickling went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Deering went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double.
In other batting news, Jefferson Davis Academy let Rileigh York and Sydney Owens run wild. York went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Owens went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Owens has hit this season.
Jefferson Davis Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
As for Andrew Jackson Academy, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. Warriors fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Jefferson Davis Academy since on Tuesday.
On Andrew Jackson Academy's side, Mariya Hiott spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on ten hits.
On the hitting side, Carrigan Moore made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
