The Prattville Christian Academy Panthers will take on the Brewbaker Tech Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Panthers on Saturday. Prattville Christian Academy was the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Mars Hill Bible. Prattville Christian Academy's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Meanwhile, Brewbaker Tech had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Goshen on Tuesday as Brewbaker Tech made off with a 26-5 victory. With that win, the Rams brought their scoring average up to 7.8 runs per game.
Xavier Manigault made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Brewbaker Tech is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-5 otherwise. Manigault was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Miles Williams was incredible, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Chris Lewis, who scored three runs while going 1-for-4.
Brewbaker Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .635. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Prattville Christian Academy's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Brewbaker Tech, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.
Prattville Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Brewbaker Tech in their previous matchup on Wednesday, winning 8-4. Will Prattville Christian Academy repeat their success, or does Brewbaker Tech have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
