The Central Cambria Red Devils will face off against the Penn Cambria Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Central Cambria is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Central Cambria's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Bellwood-Antis as they made off with a 10-0 win. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by nine runs or more this season.
Keira Link made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katie George, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Sophia Blasko was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Central Cambria hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bellwood-Antis struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, Penn Cambria came up short against Tyrone on Thursday and fell 9-5.
Penn Cambria saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyse Rabatin, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Penn Cambria's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Central Cambria, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Central Cambria hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .348. However, it's not like Penn Cambria struggles in that department as they've averaged .323. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Central Cambria took their win against Penn Cambria when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-4 score. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
