Verrado is 0-10 against Canyon View since March of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Vipers will square off against the Jaguars at 3:45 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Canyon View will be up against a hot Verrado team: the squad just extended their winning streak to 17. Everything went the Vipers' way against Youngker on Monday as they made off with a 16-1 win.
Verrado got a massive performance out of Nevaeh Romero, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. What's more, Romero posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaiden Stell, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Verrado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Youngker only posted an OBP of .214.
Meanwhile, Canyon View came into Wednesday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They never let Campo Verde get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Jaguars considering their one-run performance the match before.
Emily Davis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Makenzie Jones was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Brooke Downs, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Verrado's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Canyon View, their record now sits at 18-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Verrado hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Canyon View struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Verrado suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Canyon View in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Vipers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
