The West Houston HomeSchool Thunder will head out to face off against HCYA at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, West Houston HomeSchool turned things around against Frassati Catholic last Wednesday. They blew past the Falcons 14-8.
Fischer Bettis made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because West Houston HomeSchool is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 8-9 otherwise. Bettis was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Thomas LaGorga, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Gabe Sanford also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
West Houston HomeSchool hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, HCYA can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They put the hurt on Brazosport Christian with a sharp 15-4 victory.
James Norman looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, HCYA let Tyde Tracy and Julien Hernandez run wild. Tracy got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Hernandez scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Meeks, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
HCYA's record now sits at 14-12. As for West Houston HomeSchool, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
West Houston HomeSchool came out on top in a nail-biter against HCYA when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 6-4. Will the Thunder repeat their success, or do HCYA have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
