It was a good run, but the Edison Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They were the victim of a tough 75-51 loss at the hands of Hayfield. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Edison has suffered against Hayfield since February 8, 2022.
Leading Hayfield to victory were Alex Mcfarlane and Andy Ramirez. Mcfarlane scored 15 points along with six assists and two steals, while Ramirez dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Mcfarlane scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Owen Pottenburgh, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Edison's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Hayfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
Edison will head out on the road to square off against Mount Vernon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Vernon will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Hayfield will take on Falls Church at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Falls Church will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 344th, while Hayfield is ranked 67th).
