MT. VERNON, S.D. -
Canistota (S.D.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 48-12 win over Mt. Vernon/Plankinton (Mt. Vernon, S.D.).
In the first quarter, the Hawks put up six points. Canistota scored on a
Nick Hofer touchdown run.
After taking the lead on a two-point conversion in the first quarter, CHS was up 22-8 at the half.
The Hawks grew their lead to 30 points entering the fourth quarter. Canistota scored four times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Hofer.
Coming into the game CHS had allowed 28.0 points per game this year.
The win was a nice bounce back for the Hawks, who lost to Avon last week, 44-24. The victory snapped Canistota's two-game losing streak.
In a Cornbelt (9 Man) game next week Mt. Vernon/Plankinton (1-5) takes on Menno/Marion, and Canistota (3-3) will go up against Howard also in a Cornbelt (9 Man) game.
