Basketball Recap: Harrison's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Harrison lost against Discovery Canyon back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Harrison Panthers took a 53-35 bruising from the Discovery Canyon Thunder. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Harrison still got an impressive performance from Nadia Turnipseed, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Turnipseed a new career-high in boards.

Even though they lost, Harrison smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive games dating back to last season.

Discovery Canyon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Natalie Neuhaus out in front who posted 16 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Another player making a difference was Addison Hulse, who had eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Harrison's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Discovery Canyon, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

Harrison will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Vista Ridge at 1:00 p.m. on January 4th. Vista Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.2 points per game this season. Discovery Canyon will also get a bit of a break before their next match: they'll face off against Canon City at 2:00 p.m. on January 4th. Canon City also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 54.3 points per game.
