The Statesville Christian Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Carolina Day Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Statesville Christian is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Thursday, it was a hard-fought game, but Statesville Christian had to settle for a 30-27 loss against North Hills Christian.
Meanwhile, Carolina Day had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 46-27 win over Varsity Opponent on Monday. Carolina Day pushed the score to 40-15 by the end of the third, a deficit Varsity Opponent cut but never quite recovered from.
Lily Everette was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Carolina Day's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Williams, who scored seven points along with six steals.
Statesville Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Carolina Day, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Statesville Christian came up short against Carolina Day in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 53-49. Can Statesville Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
