The Berwick Panthers will venture away from home to take on the New Iberia Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Berwick's victory against A.J. Ellender wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers skirted past the Patriots 3-1. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Meanwhile, New Iberia waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Green Devils as they made off with a 15-2 win. Considering the Yellowjackets have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Brennan Laporte made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Laporte was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Myles Jones was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Ryker Meyers was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
New Iberia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2025.
Berwick's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for New Iberia, their record is now 7-1.
Berwick skirted past New Iberia 10-8 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellowjackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
