Post Falls extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-8. They came up short against the Lake City Timberwolves, falling 18-8. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Timberwolves this season, with their most recent defeat being a 11-1 loss on Tuesday.
Kulani Peahu-Michael and Natalie Stroud did some serious damage despite the final result: Peahu-Michael went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Stroud went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was Stroud's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenna Zimmerman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
As for Lake City, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.4 runs.
On Lake City's side, Madeline Peterson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Peterson has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, KaeLee Kolden was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Karsyn DeMent was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Looking ahead, Post Falls will take on Moscow at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.08 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lake City, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Coeur d'Alene at 3:00 p.m. The Timberwolves will need to watch out since the Vikings have now posted at least ten runs in their last seven contests.
