Baseball Recap: Somerset Extends Road Winning Streak to Nine

Somerset waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Richland Rams 16-6. Considering the Eagles have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Garrett Reese looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Somerset got a massive performance out of Cole Lucas, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Callen Miller, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Somerset pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Richland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Somerset will face off against Chestnut Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Richland, they will take on Huntingdon at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bearcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight.
