Section 11 Division III recap October 1, 2013
Comsewogue was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from 14th to 10th in Section 11 Division III. The Warriors beat Harborfields 28-14 earlier in the week.
Eastport-South Manor scaled the state rankings by moving to 384 from 511 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Sharks climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Sayville 35-34.
Ade Nelson was a beast in the backfield as Comsewogue bested the Tornadoes.
Nelson provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Sean Tremblay's team topped Harborfields. Nelson's key target this week was Anthony Colao, who caught 2 passes for 22 yards.
Nelson was the best running back in the league this week. In 23 carries, he ran for 223 yards as the Warriors fell to Islip. Christian Knab also contributed to the rushing game with 29 yards on the ground.
The Clippers' Nick Fountis and Trent led Section 11 Division III in both passing and receiving yards. Fountis has thrown for 361 yards this season, while Trent, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 7 catches for 203 yards. Comsewogue's Nelson leads the league in rushing yards with 612.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Bellport takes on Miller Place. As it stands, Joe Cipp's team is in seventh, while the Panthers are in first.
Eastport-South Manor and the Golden Flashes played the closest game in the league this week, with Eastport-South Manor eventually emerging with a 35-34 victory. Austin Macchi threw for 29 yards and ran for 104 yards in the win.
