With a playoff game on the line, the Elkins Elks rose to the challenge on Friday. They claimed a resounding 53-15 victory over the Mustangs on the road. Elkins' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Da' Shawn Chairs was his usual excellent self, rushing for 250 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. Chairs has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last five times he's played. Dizzy Dean was another key contributor, rushing for 135 yards on only 12 carries.
Elkins pushed their record up to 13-0 with that win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 42 points. As for Central Arkansas Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.
Elkins is on the road again on Friday and play against Harding Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. Harding Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Central Arkansas Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
