The Olympic Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Niagara Falls Wolverines at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. Olympic has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Olympic pushed their score all the way to 60 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of East Gaston by a score of 63-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Saturday (59), Olympic still had to take the loss.
RANDY JOHNSON put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 28 points. The match was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was DEANGELO HALL, who scored six points along with seven steals.
Even though they lost, Olympic were working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 81-51, which was the final score in Niagara Falls' tilt against Bishop Timon-St. Jude last Saturday. While losing is never fun, Niagara Falls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while Bishop Timon-St. Jude is ranked 42nd).
Olympic bumped their record down to 2-7 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Niagara Falls, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-1.
