The Declo Hornets will face off against the Wells Leopards at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Declo came out on top against Soda Springs on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Hornets put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 12-4 win. Winning may never get old, but the Hornets sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Trevin Averett made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Declo is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Averett was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Zane Snedaker was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Cade Miller was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Meanwhile, Wells put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Wednesday. They never let Owyhee get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory.
Like Declo, Wells also got a great game from a two-way player: Gavin Martinez. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Martinez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Raleigh Groves was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Luis Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Declo's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Wells, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Declo has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .468. However, it's not like Wells struggles in that department as they've averaged .532. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Declo's way against Wells when the teams last played back in April of 2018, as Declo made off with a 10-0 win. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Leopards have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
