Sumner and Olympia are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Spartans will welcome the Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Olympia will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Sumner extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Spartans came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Yelm. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted since April 25, 2025.

Josslyn Sorensen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Naya Alastra, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Olympia narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past South Kitsap 7-5. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Aliyah Eberle was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Abby Crawford was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Olympia hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Olympia's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Sumner, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sumner has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443. However, it's not like Olympia struggles in that department as they've averaged .450. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Sumner's way against Olympia in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Sumner made off with an 8-0 victory. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
