Walled Lake Central extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 5-2 in the process. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Walled Lake Western Warriors, sneaking past 8-6. While the Vikings didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Katelynn Cole spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits.
At the plate, Walled Lake Central let Taylor Combs and Izabel Mehta run wild. Combs went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Mehta went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Bella Spellman, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Walled Lake Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
As for Walled Lake Western, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since May 19, 2024.
On Walled Lake Western's side, Hannah Fisher led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Domzalski, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Coming up, Walled Lake Central will face off against Lakeland at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games. As for Walled Lake Western, they will take on Carlson at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
