Wheeler County was dealt a 49-21 defeat at the hands of Dublin on Tuesday. Wheeler County has struggled against Dublin recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Wheeler County's loss came despite strong showings from Nikita James and Shiann Carey. James scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Carey scored six points. That was a full 71.4% of Wheeler County's points, marking the 12th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Wheeler County struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Dublin racked up 13 assists.
Nahallie Turnley continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Dublin, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Turnley is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 15 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Wright, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Wheeler County's defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-12. As for Dublin, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which somehow isn't as good as their 14-4 record this season.
Wheeler County will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Telfair County at 3:00 p.m. As for Dublin, they will head out on the road to challenge Jefferson County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Jefferson County is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
