Menlo-Atherton extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 10-2. Everything went their way against the Los Altos Eagles as they made off with a 15-1 win. The result was nothing new for the M-A BEARS, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Gracy Nava made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kylie Cox was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season. Olivia Rodgers was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Menlo-Atherton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .440 or higher in three consecutive games.
As for Los Altos, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-6-2 record. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
On Los Altos' side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makayla Mase, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Menlo-Atherton will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Sequoia at 4:30 p.m. on the 14th. As for Los Altos, they will host Homestead at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 1.4 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
