Softball Recap: Garfield Has No Trouble Against Caldera

Garfield picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over Caldera. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won five matchups by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Ella Howard looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Lissie Hogan was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mae Valenta, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

Garfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Caldera only posted an OBP of .364.

The win made it two in a row for Garfield and bumps their season record up to 6-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Caldera, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garfield will take on Ballard at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Garfield's pitchers better be ready for this one: Ballard has averaged an impressive 11 runs per game this season. As for Caldera, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sandy at 5:00 p.m. on April 1.
