The Hurricane Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 84-60 walloping at the hands of Snow Canyon. Hurricane has struggled against Snow Canyon recently, as their contest on Friday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Hurricane had strong showings from Brigham Kemp, who scored 16 points, and Calan Hughes, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Hughes continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Houston Homer, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Owen Mackay was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds for Snow Canyon. Mackay hasn't dropped below 15points for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Reggie Mackay, who scored 13 points.
Hurricane bumped their record down to 5-11 with that loss, which was their 16th straight on the road. As for Snow Canyon, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hurricane will take on Pine View at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pine View presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hurricane in Utah (Pine View is ranked 16th, while Hurricane is ranked 85th). As for Snow Canyon, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Desert Hills at 7:00 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Eli Allred and Mackay.
