After three games on the road, Marion County is heading back home. They will take on the Brilliant Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Marion County is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Tigers in Alabama (the Red Raiders are ranked 108th, while the Tigers are ranked 431st).
Last Thursday, Marion County had to suffer through a rough 66-29 loss at the hands of the Panthers. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Marion County has scored all season.
Marion County's loss came about despite a quality game from Joe Aldridge, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Aldridge is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tye Madison, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Brilliant came into Monday's matchup having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They managed a 63-59 win over Lamar County on Monday. The victory was just what Brilliant needed coming off of a 51-29 loss in their prior matchup.
Marion County's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-7. As for Brilliant, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-15.
Everything came up roses for Marion County against the Tigers when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 69-39 victory. With Marion County ahead 43-15 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
