Petersburg hasn't had much luck against Prince George recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Crimson Wave will take on the Royals at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Petersburg took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They skirted past Meadowbrook 1-0. The Crimson Wave haven't had any issues with the Monarchs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Meanwhile, Prince George waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Skyhawks as they made off with an 18-1 win. Considering the Royals have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kaylee Moody was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Kasey Sulc was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Riley Hacker also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Prince George kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.
Prince George's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Petersburg, their record now sits at 3-9.
Petersburg might still be hurting after the 19-0 loss they got from Prince George in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Crimson Wave avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
